In 1900 the Firestone Tyre & Rubber Company is founded in Akron, Ohio by Harvey S. Firestone, six years later they deliver 2000 sets of tyres to Ford – the single largest order of tyres to date in the auto industry.
1910 saw the opening of their new factory in Akron and profits soon exceeded $1 million. Within 50 years Firestone became the largest rubber producer in the world and in 1965 they recorded $1.45 billion in revenue across 23 countries.
In 1988 Firestone merged with Bridgestone which creates the largest tyre manufacturer in the world
Well known Firestone tyre brands include Firehawk, Winterforce, Destination, Transforce, Affinity, and Precision.
