Australia’s leading mobile tyre brand, Mobile Tyre Shop will take the next step in its national expansion strategy with a major investment from Sailun International Holding (Singapore) PTE LTD, a wholly owned subsidiary of Shanghai-listed Sailun Group Co. LTD.
The global tyre giant has invested AUD 5 million (approximately RMB 23.285 million) to subscribe for approximately 6.2112 million units of the Mobile Tyre Shop Unit Trust, which will give it a 11.09% stake in the trust.
Mobile Tyre Shop has been operating in the Australian tyre market since 2016, with the company’s online to offsite business model solving the numerous friction points commonly associated with tyre fitting, significantly reducing time and cost to the consumer.
The objectives of the Mobile Tyre Shop/Sailun strategic partnership are three-fold:
- Expand Mobile Tyre Shop’s mature e-commerce and onsite service network
- Establish Sailun’s market presence in Australia
- Create a strategic springboard to the Asia Pacific market for both brands
Sailun is currently the 9th largest manufacturer of tyres in the world, and have positioned their investment in Mobile Tyre Shop as a tactical move that strongly aligns with their “production + sales” strategy:
- Enabling them to gain immediate market access
- Assisting in R&D to develop specialised products for the Australian consumer
In the short term, Mobile Tyre Shop’s leading technology stack will be influential in Sailun’s ability to gain a strategic foothold with Australian customers. The company’s proprietary operating system fully integrates and automates all aspects of the business, was recently recognised as best-in-class by Apple Inc., California, and is fully scalable.
Sailun also recognises that online tyre sales are increasing across the globe. In Australia, ecommerce represents less than 5% of total tyre sales market share, while online tyre sales in more established markets such as the UK have already exceeded 21%. Mobile Tyre Shop has impressive growth potential.
However, Mobile Tyre Shop’s proven end-to-end business model and consistent growth of 50% YOY are ultimately what drove Sailun’s investment, who believe that growing the company’s fleet and national footprint service will unlock even greater performance.
Mobile Tyre Shop’s, CEO, Travis Osborne confirms that Sailun’s investment will be used to:
- Increase network to 100+ service vans
- Increase marketing/lead generation
- Expand national support team
